Purpose of Forge Youth Ministries
The purpose of Forge Youth Ministries is two-fold, which is reflected in our two theme verses. The truth behind Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” is that teens need to be an encouragement to their peers and to others. This includes more than just becoming each other’s cheering section, but includes mutual accountability to live lives that are pleasing to the Lord. Our schedule deliberately includes activities designed to allow this to happen.
Romans 1:16 boldly states that, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” We want each of our teens to have personally responded to the Gospel and for them to live out their faith unashamed in their world. We also equip them to share that Gospel with those who need to hear it. Our schedule also deliberately includes activities designed to allow these to happen.
Forge Youth Ministries is currently in transition to a youth-lead, parent involved, ministry where the teens become responsible for more and more of the planning and execution of the program and parents are there to do more than just provide pizza, but are being trained to really mentor the teens. Pastor Doug is currently working with teens and parents to move the ministry in that direction.
